Interiors Awards
This past Friday, January 24, we sponsored the 35th Annual Contract Magazine Interiors Awards Breakfast. It was a cold, sunny morning in New York City, but we warmed up inside the beautiful Cipriani 42nd Street, where we noshed and celebrated the honorees. With more than 600 in attendance, the inspiring morning revealed amazing design work from a number of industries from healthcare and offices to sustainability and exhibitions.
Contract Editor-in-Chief John Czarnecki started off the morning sharing reflections from this year’s jurors on the 14 project winners. He noted that collectively the works reflect the designers’ deep appreciation of the spaces they worked within from both historical and architectural perspectives.
The two headline winners of the morning were Krista Ninivaggi, the 2014 Designer of the Year and Trisha Wilson, the 2014 Legend Award Winner. Ninivaggi built the Interiors Division of SHoP Architects to 20 designers in the past two years and led the interior design efforts on the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn. Wilson built the renowned design firm Wilson Associates from the ground up to the 350 staff members it has today and now focuses her time on serving needy young populations of South Africa with education and healthcare aid through The Wilson Foundation.
