Coverings had the honor of sponsoring the annual Interior Design Magazine Giants of Design (#IDGiants) conference in Palm Spring, California last week. Each year, the gathering brings together design directors of Interior Design’s Top 100 Giants of the industry, chosen through proprietary research into firm project billings and active projects.

The conference stretched over two and a half days and included several inspiring lectures and great opportunities for networking and collaboration among these titans of the interior design industry. The diverse group of speakers included award-winning author and illustrator David Macaulay, high-wire artist Phillippe Petit, tech writer David Pogue, and AeroVelo co-founders Todd Reichert and Cameron Robertson.
One highlight was a keynote lecture by Paola Antonelli, the Senior Curator of Architecture and Interior Design at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Antonelli, who was recently named one of the 100 most powerful people in the world of art by Art Review, discussed her investigation of design’s influence on everyday experiences and how design, architecture, science, and technology work together. As lovers of great design, it was a true pleasure to be surrounded by the most innovative “little giants”/designers in the industry last week and bear witness to the beginnings of future collaborations among them. We left Palm Springs very inspired indeed!
